Please tell us a little about the history of your car…
It’s a standard Renault Clio 172 which I bought a couple of years ago. It was quite a nice car when I got it, but since then I’ve put it into the tyre wall at Castle Combe which dented, scuffed and scratched nearly all the panels. It won the championship last year though, so I think the damage can now be called ‘racing patina’.
Do you have any help getting the car ‘Race Ready’?
Being a standard car, there really isn’t much preparation to do before an event; check the tyre pressures and wheel nuts and that’s it! It’s been very reliable. I’ve replaced various items that have worn out or fallen off but I’m lucky to have a very good Renault specialist near me that does most of the work.
What did you enjoy most about 2018?
The weather has been great this year. It makes the day so much more enjoyable when it’s sunny and warm! MotoFest Coventry was a highlight. I was proud to be the first car to run on the Saturday, which I think makes me the first person to compete on a closed-road sprint in the UK under the new laws that were introduced last year.
If you were permitted a co-driver, who would it be?
