2021 Championship Registration

BARC Midlands Centre appreciates that the current situation is relentlessly challenging for us all. So, we’re even more determined to make 2021 a truly enjoyable season for everyone involved with the BARC Connaught Speed Championship. This year’s competitors can choose from an awesome thirty-four rounds at some of the best circuit, sprint and hill climb venues in the UK – And as always, points accumulated from entry in any ten of these rounds will continue to represent each driver’s final Championship score.

New For This Season

We’re delighted to confirm that Bob Adams has agreed to continue as BARC Connaught Speed Championship Coordinator for yet another season! As in previous years, he will be ably supported by BARC Midland Centre’s dedicated Competitions Team and Kate Neal, our Championship Press Officer. Together, they have thoroughly reviewed the Championship Regulations, resulting further simplifications to the scoring system, revisions to the class structure and enhancements dedicated to improving competitor safety.

We’re also hoping that 2021 will see the introduction of our online Championship points system, originally scheduled for launch last year. This will allow us to provide both Championship and class standings within seventy-two hours* of every round.

Our Championship Sponsors

We are also delighted to confirm that our title sponsor, Connaught Competition Engines, will continue to support the championship. Over the past thirty-six years, Phil Price and his team have developed an enviable reputation as one of the UK’s leading competition engine preparation specialists. Bob and the BARC Midlands team hope this partnership will help to sustain Connaught’s success for many years to come.

Connaught’s sponsorship is accompanied by commercial backing from Raymond Good, studio5009 and Emerald M3D, each funding one of the championship’s four bonus awards.

The Championship Calendar

During the season, BARC Midlands Centre will host three Championship rounds at Curborough Sprint Course. Our sister BARC Centres and other leading motorsport clubs will deliver the remaining thirty-one.

You can enter any BARC Midlands Centre event by visiting our online shop, with booking links for all other rounds available from our 2021 Championship Calendar.

Looking Ahead to 2022 and Beyond…

Before any of our competitors turn a wheel in this year’s Championship, plans for the 2022 season are already taking shape. Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, many of the new ideas we’d hoped to introduce last year are still on hold. However, we’re hoping that eventually the ‘new normal’ will allow us to begin realising further improvements, including a new programme of BARC Midlands Centre landmark sprints.

Our Eligibility and Deputy Eligibility Scrutineers, Adrian Smith and Andy Stone, have recently joined the BARC Midlands Centre committee. Together they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that we know will deliver ongoing improvements in many areas, including the BARC Connaught Speed Championship.

During 2021, Adrian and Andy will be supporting the development of further revisions to the Championship regulations. Together we will be aiming to make these far simpler. By reducing and eliminating barriers, we hope to encourage even more competitors to join us. BARC Midlands Centre believes the best way to achieve this goal is adopting a collaborative approach. So, throughout this season we’ll be canvassing opinion amongst our Championship competitors regarding the key changes we believe are required. So, please get involved. This is a great chance to ensure a fantastic future for your Championship.
