The weather forecasters weren’t much help to us in the week leading up to Round 8. Pretty much every day the forecast changed from dry to wet, from wet to dry… you get the picture. However, despite a light shower, the day was mainly bright, but at times chilly.
We suspect slick shod cars didn’t get fully up to temperature all day. Ten BARC Connaught Speed Championship competitors entered, but only eight made it on the day. So, here’s how it went.
Unusually for him, Clive Wooster‘s Radical SR4 ran early on in Class 6. Clive’s splitter woes continued from the last Goodwood event as in P1 it shattered and lost the timing strut. Quick sawing, screwing and disc cutting made a repair and Clive recorded a class win on 84.56 seconds and forth overall.
Into Class 9 and Phil Williams in the Jedi MK4 took first place on 96.57 seconds.
In Class 11, David Brown in the Renault Clio was in a competitive class with some Lotuses, but put in a fighting run for 109.91 seconds and fifth place.
