The hectic day that is Abingdon CAR-nival started breezy and chilly, but warmed up mid-morning to be a hot and quick day. Car problems were rife though. William Hunt, James Hunt, Clive Wooster and Scott Hughes were just a few who had issues, some able to carry on, other not! So, here’s how Round 11 shook out for our BARC Speed Championship Competitors.
In Class A3 Andrew Till in the MG ZR 105 took sixth place in a ten car field, recording 54.57 seconds on the Abingdon Course and 62.16 seconds on the Bentley Course for a combined time of 116.73 seconds.
In Class A5, James Hunt‘s BMW put in some good times despite losing a gear or two. Jim took sixth place in class out of twenty-one, with an Abingdon time of 47.89 seconds and a Bentley time of 55.21 seconds for a combined time of 103.10 seconds. Joining Jim in Class A5, Paul Jaggard’s Alfa Romeo 147 GTA was eighteenth on 53.86 seconds and 60.85 seconds – A combined time of 114.71 seconds. Emma Hunt in the VW Golf was just one place behind Paul on 55.86 seconds and 62.53 seconds for a combined time of 118.39 seconds. Scott Hughes in the BMW 135i practiced on the Abingdon Course, but was forced out after T1.
In Class A6, Chris Berrisford and the Subaru Impreza were second on 45.89 seconds and 52.82 seconds for a combined time of 98.51 seconds.
