With barely time to wash our Nomex undies, a number of BARC Speed Championship competitors drove on from MotoFest Coventry to Silverstone’s Stowe Circuit for Round 10. The World Rallycross Championship had used part of the circuit the week before, but fears of a dust-ridden track were unfounded. I did find a complete tread of a RX tyre on my circuit walk though! So, lets see how our thirteen competitors did on the day.
Steve Riddle opened proceedings and once again won Class SB – Road Going Production Cars 1400cc up to 2000cc in the Renault Clio 172 on 63.94 seconds, half a second ahead of the second man.
In Class 1B – Saloon Cars 1400cc up to 2000cc, the Martorana brothers took fourth and fifth place, Leo grabbing fourth on 65.45 seconds in the shared Alfa Romeo Mito and Adriano fifth on 66.97 seconds. In sixth, Helen Currie in her Renault Clio was oh so close to Adriano on 67.04 seconds – Just 7/100ths behind.
In Class 1C – Saloon Cars Over 2000cc, Paul Jaggard took his Alfa Romeo to the class win on 66.23 seconds, with Emma Hunt snapping at his heels in her Golf on 68.14 seconds.
Class 2A, the wordily named Road Going Kit, Replica & Space-Framed Cars up to 1700cc (Car Derived Engines), saw Graham Holdstock in the Caterham 7 take second place on 61.38 seconds.
