The BARC Connaught Speed Championship has always been about far more than just providing a fantastic speed series. The friendship and camaraderie amongst our competitors, plus the fun atmosphere that has become an inherent part of our events have all contributed to its ongoing success.
Many of our competitors and members of the BARC Midlands Centre committee are long-term supporters of various important charitable causes. In 2018, the raffle at our Awards Dinner raised over £400 for The Air Ambulance Service, a charity that is essential to motorsport’s extensive family of Doctors, Paramedics, medical teams and rescue crews.
As part of the changes to the BARC Connaught Speed Championship introduced for 2019, the competitors and BARC Midlands Centre agreed to adopt an official charity each season, selected from nominations received throughout the year. Our very own Clive Wooster, who has been responsible for donating many fantastic raffle prizes, has supported brainstrust – The brain cancer people for many years. He always takes part in their Follow The Seagulls Charity Walk, an arduous fifty-mile trek over two days around the Isle of Wight Coastal Path. We hope you will support Clive’s exploits during 2019 by donating directly via his JustGiving page.
However, we firmly believe Clive’s dedication warrants some additional help. So, we are delighted to conform that brainstrust will be our Official Championship Charity for 2019.
brainstrust are the only brain tumour charity focused 100% on support and wellbeing. They are small, smart and agile, not aspiring to be the biggest, just the best.
